Designed to emulate the three-knob Big Muff of the ’70s, the Wren and Cuff Tri-Pie ’70 deviates from the modern Muff to aim at a more vintage tone. With less saturation, less mid scoops, and more growl, the Tri-Pie ’70 achieves its vintage Big Muff tone without attempting to rebuild with exact parts. Instead, the folks at Wren and Cuff blind-tested different combinations of transistors to find the sound truest to the ’70s Muff.
