The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff is one of the all time classic effects pedal. Introduced in the early ’70s, the Big Muff has undergone a number of cosmetic changes, but its circuitry and classic fuzz tone have remained largely the same. After the early ’70s “Tri-Muffs” and the mid-’70s “Ram’s Head” Muffs, this late ’70s iteration (V4/5) – sometimes called the Op Amp Muff – finally cemented the template now used for the modern reissue. This particular model was famously used by Billy Corgan with The Smashing Pumpkins to create their “wall of guitars” sound.
