The Boss DF-2 Super Distortion & Feedbacker (1984) was a unique analog distortion pedal, essentially a DS-1 with a built-in artificial feedback generator activated by holding the footswitch, allowing sustained harmonic overtones at any volume for dynamic solos or drone notes, though it was often considered underpowered and the distortion less refined than other pedals. Key features included Level, Tone, Distortion knobs for the dirt, an Overtone knob for feedback, and a special footswitch to capture and sustain notes, but it had issues with volume cuts and shared controls between the effect and distortion.
